UMFST G.E. Palade of Târgu Mures is a multicultural and multilingual institution of higher education and research, which provides educational activities in Romanian, Hungarian and English and has a strong commitment to internationalization. The general climate, policies, values and mission of the University are reflections of its position in an ethnically and culturally diverse region. In accordance with this multicultural and multilingual character, the Charter of the University prioritizes, as an essential part of its vision, the development of social awareness and reinforcement of the principles of human liberty and democracy.

It is the only university in Romania with studies in other local languages (Hungarian), besides international programmes in English and an international branch of the Faculty of Medicine in Hamburg, Germany. UMFST G.E. Palade covers various educational fields like medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, engineering, computer science, philology, political science, economics, law, and architecture. It has 81 programmes of study (44 bachelor’s degrees and 37 master’s degrees) and 8 areas of doctoral studies, with more than 13,000 students, 673 didactic staff, and 320 didacticauxiliary staff. Established in 1945, the university has evolved into a prominent centre for education, research, and training, focusing on student-centred practical activities and encouraging the application of innovative teaching techniques.
